The MH180 Tactical Headset System is the first and only tactical bone vibration headset on the market that allows an operator to choose from one of four differing lengths of stainless steel headset frames – assuring a personalized, custom fit and optimal positioning of the bone conduction device(s) for receiving radio communications. Until now, tactical operators had been forced to accept bone conduction headsets in supposed ‘one-size-fits-all’ models which, in reality, correctly fit only a percentage of the users. The unique feature of the MH180’s variety of head frame sizes allows a law enforcement team or unit of military operators, for the first time ever, access to a tactical headset system custom manufactured specifically to their individual head and face dimensions.
Recognizing some helmet systems are more conducive to a headset design that implements a horizontal rather than vertical head frame or band, please see the information detailing our MH3 Tactical Headset System elsewhere on this website. |

Another unique feature of the MH180 headset is, because of its design, it can be worn independently of or incorporated with a tactical hearing protection headset – the PANTHER. Rather than forcing an operator to wear a communication system that combines hearing protection, environmental amplification and radio RX and TX in one headset, we offer the tactical operator a distinctive advantage - allowing him to choose when and when not to employ hearing protection, yet never placing the operator in a position of not having radio comms capability. Utilizing bone vibration transducer technology (receiving radio communications through the facial bones rather than the ear canal), the MH180 affords the tactical operator the operational advantage of having NO speaker hardware in, on or over the ear(s) – allowing 360 degrees of unobstructed natural hearing of ambient auditory sounds. |

Radio transmissions are received through the transducer(s), transferred through the temporal bones of the face and received in the inner ear canal. The MH180 Tactical Headset System can be ordered with single or dual transducers for receiving. Generally, tactical law enforcement teams (SWAT) choose a single transducer system for reception while military clientele choose a dual transducer system due to their probability of needing to communicate in higher ambient noise environments.
The MH180’s submersible, (1m) noise canceling, microphone provides the operator the advantage of being able to cancel out competing noise in his operating environment when transmitting. When the push-to-talk button is activated, the finely tuned MH Series microphone effectively cancels out competing environmental noise while transmitting clearly and concisely.
A wide variety of push-to-talk assemblies provide a choice for specialized needs. For instance, a WMD team – wearing Level A suits – has very different needs for a PTT system than that of a SWAT operator. The bulky and confining design of a Level A suit/gloves does not allow for easy access to the smaller style PTT buttons normally chosen by tactical law enforcement and military operatives. Rather than force our clients to choose from only one or two PTT designs – we currently offer 5 different systems plus 2 remote finger switches.
In the past it was believed that headsets incorporating a boom microphone could not be used effectively with gas masks or SCBAs. In many cases, depending upon the sensitivity of the microphone element and overall design of the boom arm, this was factual and teams were forced to use an in-the-ear or throat mounted microphone. The MH Series Custom Breathing Apparatus/Headset Adapter kits provide the tactical operator the ability to communicate clearly and effectively through a variety of breathing apparatus/masks while enjoying the advantages of a boom microphone headset system. One of our competitors, who represents both an in-the-ear bone microphone system manufactured in Denmark and throat-mikes manufactured in England, remarks - in an online video – …”you’ll never get a better quality of sound than that which you get with a boom microphone.” We concur – if the tactical headset features a high quality, noise-canceling element and rigid, articulated boom arm. All MH Series Tactical Headset Systems feature just such a microphone system.
